I am using VS2005 with the freeware version of Prof-UIS. I am trying to manually install the application wizard as per the istructions page. But when I run VS2005 it does not show up in the new projects list. Am I missing something?

By the way its great that you release this as freeware with very limited restrictions. thank you

Thank you for your interest in Prof-UIS. Actually such a problem occurs hardly ever and we need more info to find out what is wrong. Please note that the Application Wizard is only an auxiliary tool which you can easily do without. Let’s see which tasks it performs.

1) Compiles the library under different project configurations. In most cases, you will have to work only with a couple of configurations. If you plan to use Prof-UIS as dll and you do not need complex East-Asian languages, you could use only two configurations, MBCS Debug and MBCS Release. You can compile Prof-UIS yourself in Visual Studio (open and compile the profuisdll project). You can read more about Prof-UIS configurations here

2) Adds paths to Prof-UIS files in Visual Studio settings. You can also do this yourself (it should not take more that 2-3 minutes). Read the beginning of this article for details.

3) Integrates Prof-UIS Help with Visual Studio. Please open C:\Program Files\FOSS Software Inc\Prof-UIS trial\Help\ and run the Register.bat file. It adds the help to Visual Studio help Collection 2003 and 2005.

By the way, Prof-UIS Freeware comes without the Application Wizard.

Thank you for the help. Yes I downloaded the application wizard seperatly from your website. I thought that the application wizard would build the application. I have already manually performed the tasks you listed. If it only does what you listed then I guess I don’t need it.

What other information would you need to fix the issue?

Thanks again,
Ron

As we said earlier, the Application Wizard does not come with Prof-UIS Freeware. It comes only with the full version of Prof-UIS including Prof-UIS Trial. The Application Wizard supports some features that are not supported in Prof-UIS Freeware, e.g. tabs. If you mean something else, please let us know.
