Is there a way to dynamically update the text or images shown in a backstage view? For example, when using BSV as the File menu in a ribbon bar system and you click on an item in the Open or Recent tabs, it would be nice to be able to show details about that file on the right pane. If you hook up a tab to Print where the left pane has controls to control the print job and the right pane showed a print preview image it would be nice to be able to update the image as the control contents are changed. Another example would be on an Info tab where the left pane has actions or tools and executing those reflects updated data on the right pane, or maybe the right pane contains the length of time since the project was opened and you want a timer to update the time being shown.

Is there any way to do anything like this? So far, all I have found to show new content is to switch to another bar and then go back to the backstage view and rebuild all of the content. There must be an easier way than this.

Thanks!

Is there any update on how release 3.5 can provide dynamic text or images I the backstage view?

Prof-UIS Development.
The current code can provide dynamic content but it takes a lot of effort.
In our next MFC release, 3.5 due out in the Dec - January 2016 time frame there will be 3 Backstages systems Dialog, MDI, MDI/Doc/View with much improved functionality. They will be in multiple themes with several styles; Windows 10, Metro, and Prof-UIS styles. I will forward a copy of the specification to you later this month if you would like it. Contact support@prof-uis.com with a request if you would like a copy.
I hope this answers your question.
