I’m working on an application that needs a GUI, and considering Prof-UIS.  I’ve got two parts to the interface design that could be tricky, and I’d like to know if they can be done with this library.

Here’s a mockup of a tree-view variation, in which it needs to be possible to click and drag items to rearrange them in the tree.  Also, notice the set of buttons to the left.  These work like tick-boxes, with a pair of each being assoiciated with each item in the tree.

Here’s a mockup of a linkage editor, which I’ve based upon the Relationships window in MS Access.  You need to be able to drag these sub-windows around freely, while their links remain connected.  Need to be able to create new links, and edit the properties of existing ones by selecting them and using a separate Link Properties panel, or by right-clicking as shown.

So are these things possible?  If not, could I request them as new features?

The features you describe are not implemented in Prof-UIS. They look more like custom controls designed for some particular application. So, we can only do this as custom work. Please contact us for details by e-mail.

These mockups are ideal designs.  I hadn’t expected to be able to produce them exactly as I’ve presented, but I’d like to know how close I can get.

Perhaps you could suggest ways that I might be able to make use of features the library already has to offer to get something resembling the functionality I’m after.

Also, maybe some of what I’ve requested can be re-shaped into features that would be useful to other users.  The object_tree_gui mockup shows two collumns of tick-box-like controls, which could happily be simple tick-boxes.  If it were possible for tree controls to have even just one collumn of standard tick-boxes, that’d be great.

All of the functionality I’ve described for the tree control would be extremely useful (if not essential) to anyone setting up an application to work with 3D models.  With that in mind, maybe you can consider some of these feature requests as beneficial to other potential customers.  ...Are tree items user-editable with click-and-drag?  That is quite essential...

As for the linkage mockup, I think I can comfortably use a different approach with existing standard components.  All that remains is the tree-view features.  Have I simplified my requests enough to be appropriate for the general user-base?

We are ready to provide you with the extended tree control which you described. The details are in the e-mail we have just sent you.
